Recruitment
The recruitment of candidates for staff positions in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care follows the attached process. The Selection Committee will seek, solicit and receive input from Department members, surgical, nursing and anesthesia assistant colleagues as well as interview, and rank prospective candidates (approximately 2-3 beyond anticipated needs).
The rank list of candidates will be presented at a special Department Meeting for further input if quorum is met (50% of Department members present or by proxy vote). Motions and a rank order list will be distributed to the Department a minimum of one week prior to the meeting. At this meeting, following finalization of the rank list, a separate motion to offer each candidate on the rank list will be voted upon (all Department members are eligible to vote).
A 2/3 (67%) majority will be required for a candidate to be offered a position by the selection committee. The selection committee will offer positions to eligible candidates according to rank list, staffing and subspecialty needs. The Departmental executive will approve promotion from provisional to active privileging (typically 1-3 years after initial privileging) after obtaining feedback from the Department.
